The Early Years Of The Les Paul Legacy - The Man And The Guitar He Invented: The Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar

Monday, June 8th, 2009

“Thoughtfully written and impecably researched”.
“One the best guitar reference guides”.
“Awesome vintage Les Paul photography”.

The Gibson Les Paul electric guitar is an iconic instrument used by musicians in all genres of music… Rock, Metal, Indie, Punk and Jazz. This excellent book was written by prominent guitar expert, player and photojournalist Robb Lawrence. He also wrote the original byline for Guitar Magazine’s popular ‘Rarebird’ column on vintage guitars. He began his association with Les Paul in 1972 and has been his West Coast concert tech for many memorable shows. Their association has included work on The Wizard of Waukesha, a 1978 film about Les Paul and the recent 2001 Grammys tribute film.

How To Make Your Own Electric Guitar

Friday, June 5th, 2009

The electric guitar is ‘the’ musical instrument of the last 40 years. In that time, names like the Fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar have acquired an aura–and a price–that are truly remarkable. For some, however, it is not enough to buy a guitar–the challenge of designing and hand-making a unique, customized instrument is the dream. Since 1986, these people have turned to one book: Make Your Own Electric Guitar. Written in a clear, relaxed style, it covers every facet of guitar design and construction, as well as electronic theory and practice, and full woodworking and wiring techniques–all supported with plenty of photos and diagrams. Now in a revised and expanded edition, Make Your Own Electric Guitar will enable any musician or enthusiast with basic woodworking skills to create a uniquely valuable instrument. The book’s forward is ritten by Queen’s Brian May. Learn more here.
